About This Mac shows the year, chip (M1–M5, or Intel), RAM, and storage. The team verifies via serial number.
Battery cycle count
Hold Option and click the Apple menu → System Information → Power. Lower cycle counts and "Normal" condition hold full value.
Screen, body & keyboard
Dead pixels, screen burn-in, dents, hinge wobble, and butterfly-keyboard issues are noted. Cracked screens still get a quote.
Activation Lock & Find My
Find My must be off and the Apple ID signed out. Activation-locked MacBooks can't be processed until the original owner releases them.
If you're selling a PC laptop
Brand, model & specs
Settings → System → About gives the CPU, RAM, and storage. The team verifies the model via the bottom-case label or BIOS.
Battery health
Manufacturer software (Dell Power Manager, Lenovo Vantage, HP Support Assistant) or a quick PowerShell battery report shows wear level.
Screen, hinges, keys & ports
The team tests every USB and display port, checks the keyboard row by row, opens and closes the lid, and looks for dead pixels.
BitLocker & account sign-out
If BitLocker is enabled, have the recovery key ready. Microsoft account should be signed out so the device can be wiped at the counter.

Time Machine to an external drive, or sync to iCloud Drive. The team will wipe the MacBook on-site.

Sign out of iCloud & turn off Find My
System Settings → your name → iCloud → Find My Mac (off). Then sign out of your Apple ID entirely.

Sign out of iMessage & FaceTime
Open Messages → Settings → iMessage → Sign Out. Same for FaceTime. Prevents your iCloud chats from following the device.

Bring the charger & your ID
For laptops, the original or compatible charger does affect the offer. Plus a government-issued photo ID. Required for any resale in Florida.

Do you take both MacBook and PC laptops?
Yes. Every MacBook from the current M5 generation back through Intel models from 2015, plus Windows laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Microsoft Surface, Razer, Alienware, MSI, and most other major brands.
Do you buy broken laptops?
Yes. Cracked screens, dead batteries, broken hinges, won't power on, liquid damage, missing keys. All of these still get a quote. Broken-device quotes happen in person after a quick test at the counter.
Will you buy a MacBook with Activation Lock or Find My still on?
No. The original Apple ID must be signed out and Find My must be turned off before the device can be processed. The team can walk you through it at the counter if you have your Apple ID password.
What about a PC laptop with BitLocker enabled?
Bring the BitLocker recovery key (you can find it at account.microsoft.com/devices if you saved it to your Microsoft account). Without the key, the team can't wipe the drive and can't make an offer.
Do I need to bring the original charger?
It helps. For laptops specifically, a working charger does affect the offer. This is different from iPhones, where the box and charger don't matter. If you don't have the original, a compatible third-party one is fine for the test.
How much will I get for my MacBook or laptop?

How long does the appraisal take?
Usually 15 to 25 minutes for a laptop. The team boots the device, runs a quick hardware check on the screen, keyboard, ports, and battery, confirms the model and specs, and makes a final offer.
Do you buy laptops that are missing the battery, drive, or keyboard?
Sometimes. It depends on the model. Newer MacBooks with missing components still have salvage value. Older PCs with missing parts may be declined. Easiest to call ahead or just bring it in for a look.
