Which desktops, monitors, and components we take
Apple desktops, Windows PCs, gaming towers, prebuilt and custom systems, monitors of every size, plus graphics cards and other major PC components. Working units welcome. Custom builds and rare parts tested in-store.
iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro
Every Apple Silicon Mac plus the Intel models from 2018 onward.
Prebuilt PCs, gaming desktops, and displays
Dell, HP, Lenovo, gaming towers, plus Apple displays and high-end monitors.
GPUs, CPUs, and major PC parts
Graphics cards, processors, and other major components from working systems or as standalone parts.
What the team checks on your desktop
The same inspection runs on every system before an offer is made.
Model, chip & specs
For Macs: Apple menu → About This Mac confirms the chip (M4, M4 Pro, M4 Max, etc.), RAM, and storage. For Windows: Settings → System → About. The team verifies actual specs against the listed configuration since RAM and storage upgrades affect the offer.
Boot test & display output
The system powers on, the OS loads, and the display lights up across all video ports. For all-in-ones (iMac), the screen is checked for dead pixels and backlight bleed. Custom-built PCs get a full boot test plus a temperature check under brief load.
Ports, fans & components
USB, Thunderbolt, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet all tested. Fans spin without rattle. For towers, the side panel comes off to confirm the listed GPU and CPU are actually installed (custom-built PCs sometimes have aftermarket changes the seller forgot).
Apple ID, BitLocker & sign-out
For Macs: iCloud signed out, Find My Mac off, Activation Lock cleared. For Windows: Microsoft account removed, BitLocker recovery key handed over or the drive wiped. Without this, the next owner can't set up the system.
Before you bring your desktop in
Fifteen minutes of prep keeps the appointment quick.
Back up your data
Mac: Time Machine to an external drive, or copy to iCloud Drive. Windows: File History, OneDrive, or a manual copy to external storage. The team wipes the drive on intake, so anything left on it is gone for good.
Sign out & deactivate
Mac: Apple menu → System Settings → your name → Sign Out (this signs you out of iCloud and disables Find My Mac). Deauthorize iTunes/Music: Account → Authorizations → Deauthorize. Windows: remove your Microsoft account from Settings → Accounts.
Erase the OS
Mac M1 or later: System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Erase All Content and Settings. Windows: Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything. Skip this step if you'd rather the team handle it; just have your password ready.
Bring cables, peripherals & ID
Power cable, original keyboard and mouse for iMacs and Macs, monitor cable if applicable. Government-issued photo ID required. Original box helps the offer but isn't required. For custom PCs, bring any spare parts you have.

What about Windows PCs with BitLocker enabled?
