Settings → General → About shows the model identifier and case size. The team confirms 40mm versus 44mm versus 49mm, aluminum versus stainless steel versus titanium, and GPS versus GPS + Cellular. Cellular models price higher.
Battery health
For Apple Watch: Settings → Battery → Battery Health shows the maximum capacity percentage. For Garmin and Samsung, the companion app pulls battery state. Heavy wear lowers the offer but doesn't disqualify the watch.
Screen, crown & sensors
The team checks the AMOLED display for cracks, dead pixels, and burn-in around the watchface ring. Digital Crown rotates smoothly. Side button clicks cleanly. Heart rate and SpO2 sensors are inspected for cracks on the back-of-case crystal.
Activation Lock & account sign-out
iCloud Find My must be off and the Apple Watch unpaired from your phone. For Garmin: Garmin Connect device removal. Samsung Galaxy Watch: Samsung account and Google account signed out. Without this, the watch can't be activated for the next owner.

Apple Watch syncs to the Health app on iPhone, which backs up via iCloud. Garmin: export from Garmin Connect. Samsung: Samsung Health. Whoop and Oura store data in their respective cloud accounts. None of this comes back after the wipe.

Unpair from your phone
Apple Watch: open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap your watch, then Unpair Apple Watch. This automatically disables Activation Lock. Garmin: remove the device from Garmin Connect. Samsung: Galaxy Wearable app, remove watch.

Will you buy an Apple Watch with Activation Lock or iCloud lock on?
No. The watch needs to be unpaired from your iPhone first, which removes Activation Lock automatically. The team can walk you through it at the counter if you have your Apple ID password. Without unlocking, the watch can't be activated for the next owner.
Do you take cellular Apple Watches?
Yes, and they get a higher offer than GPS-only models of the same generation. Before bringing it in, call your carrier (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) to remove the watch from your line. Otherwise the monthly cellular charge keeps running.
What about cracked screens or batteries that won't hold a charge?
Yes. Cracked sapphire crystals, AMOLED panels with dead pixels, dropped Apple Watches with damaged crowns, watches that won't power on. Old Apple Watches with degraded batteries are common. Broken-watch quotes happen in person after a quick test.
How long does the appraisal take?
